Campaign Update #10: We've Named the Bird, Plus Vote on Door Card Art
almost 8 years ago
– Fri, Nov 25, 2016 at 09:19:00 PM
Thank you to all of our backers who posted suggestions to help name our greaser pheasant. There were lots of great suggestions, but we finally settled on one we love. So, without further ado, we are pleased to introduce
THE UNPLEASANT PHEASANT!
Yo, dat's one tough boid!
Here's a shout out to Dave "Scaredy Dave" Bruno, who appears to have been the first one to suggest that name, later followed by Victor Zampino, Lou Studdert and Stephen Tobias. Great job everyone!
VOTE ON DOOR CARD ART
Meanwhile, our artist, Alex Diochon, continues to crank out amazing art for our game. Here are a couple of sketches that he pulled together for a card we're calling "Low-tech Mech":
Which one do you prefer? We'd like to hear your opinion! Vote here!
Campaign Update #9: New Baby, New Voice, New Art
about 8 years ago

A BABY IS BORN
Every game of 5-Minute Dungeon will now include an adorable little Baby Barbarian figurine!
Although we've made it through all of our stretch goals, we're not just sitting around. We're hard at work developing all the new stuff we've been promising... the new cards and boss mats, the timer app, and a bunch of other things too! We'll keep you updated as news develops.
A NEW VOICE FOR THE APP
You may recall that we added the Epic Voice Guy, John Bailey, as a narrator for our Timer App as an early stretch goal. We're now happy to announce that we've added another great voice to our app (no stretch goal needed): Nick "Lanipator" Landis, known for his voice work in the hilarious Dragonball Z: Abridged series. Nick and his crew recently posted an entertaining playthrough of 5-Minute Dungeon - check it out if you haven't already. We think you'll agree that his voice will make a great addition to the Timer App.
NAME THAT BIRD!
Our American backers will be busy celebrating Thanksgiving for the next few days, so in their honor, we'd like to share a new piece of card art by our artist, Alex Diochon:
Q: Why don't people eat pheasant at Thanksgiving?
A: Because it's too greasy!
...It’s a terrible joke and we’re sorry. But perhaps you'll be inspired to come up with a name for this card depicting a greaser pheasant. Let us know in the comments what you think we should call this guy!
And if you're getting together with friends and family to celebrate Thanksgiving this weekend, why not tell all of them about 5-Minute Dungeon? It’s a great chance to spread the word about the most fun you can have in 5 minutes.
Campaign Update #8: Stretch Goal Update, K.I.C.K. 9000 Image, and some Product Updates
about 8 years ago

Hello backers!
We just passed $250,000 in pledges. Just... wow. We really appreciate all your support!
Thanks to all of you who made your voice heard on the matter of Baby Barbarian vs. Sand Timer. The result was very clear: The Baby Barbarian smashed the sand timer, 1298 votes to 751! So we are pleased to announce that the Baby Barbarian figure will be our next stretch goal, unlocked at $265K CAD (~$198K USD).
Meanwhile, our team has been hard at work finalizing everything needed to start production as soon as the campaign ends. One little tweak we've made is to put the hinges on the right side of the Door and Challenge Cards so that you now flip cards as if you were opening the door properly:
Thanks to backer Toni and reviewer Rahdo for bringing this glitch to our attention!
New Boss Artwork - The K.I.C.K. 9000
In other news, Alex has finished coloring the K.I.C.K. 9000. Here he is in all his bootastic glory:
Sleeves
We've had a few backers asking about how cards in sleeves will fit in the box. Here's a photo showing the current tray, with an unsleeved player deck on the left and a deck in sleeves on the right.
As you can see, the sleeved version takes up twice as much space as the regular version, but if you use the space under the boss mats for your Door and Challenge Cards, everything still fits!
A Project We Like
Finally, if you've got a moment, why not check out the Kickstarter for Tricksters. It looks to be a great little card game with interesting mechanics and would make a great game night along with 5-Minute Dungeon!
Campaign Update #7: Vote For the Next Stretch Goal!

BOSS MAT POLL UPDATE
We're well on our way to unlocking the next stretch goal, which is for a second boss mat. Meanwhile, we've concluded our poll to choose the first boss mat we unlocked.
The winner: The K.I.C.K. 9000! Thank you to all who voted!
SO WHAT'S NEXT?
We know that our backers love seeing more content for 5-Minute Dungeon, and we've answered the call with our already-unlocked stretch goals to add 10 new Challenge Cards, 15 new Door Cards, and 2 new Boss Mats (including the one about to be unlocked). That's a lot of new stuff to create, and each new card takes time to design, test, and draw! In order to ensure that we hit the delivery date we promised, after the current stretch goal, we won't be able to offer any more new content.
If Alex is our art engine, then think of us as Scotty telling you that "she's givin' her all she's got, captain"!
So... what's next? We've been listening to your feedback in the comments about the pros and cons of two potential options, so we're going to try something a little different. We're going to let you tell us what you want to see for our next stretch goal!
BABY BARBARIAN FIGURINE VS. SAND TIMER
The Baby Barbarian is a cool sculpt of the first boss of the game. Although the picture we put on the campaign page had no color, the final figure will be painted. This little guy looks great on your desk, but he's purely ornamental and has no role in the actual game.
The Sand Timer, on the other hand, is much less cool, but it would provide a basic way to keep track of time for those who can't or won't use the free Timer App we're building.
If you had to pick just one to add to the game, which would you choose? Click here and let us know!
And, once again, thank you to all of our backers for your overwhelming support!
Campaign Update #6: New Cards, New Boss and a New 5-Pack Backer Level
about 8 years ago
– Mon, Nov 14, 2016 at 11:27:03 PM
WE MADE IT! 500% FUNDED!
Thanks to all the backers, we've now unlocked the Kickstarter-exclusive boss and 5 more door cards (that's 20 new cards we have to make)! If you haven't done so yet, click this link to choose one of the two options for this new boss!
Our next stretch goal will be to unlock 5 more Door Cards! Combined with the 10 Door Cards we've already unlocked, that will bring us up to 55 Door Cards in the finished game, 37.5% more than we started with!
NEW BACKER LEVEL: 5 GAME PARTY PACK
By popular request, we're adding a new backer level for those of you looking to pool your orders: a 5-pack carton of the Standard Edition! The price per game will be the same as the single game pledge level, but as a thank you, we'll pay the shipping costs on these games when you pledge at this new level. Tell your friends and get a pledge together!
(Sorry, but we cannot offer the Dungeon Master Edition in these packs, nor can we extend Early Bird discounts to this level.)
Now let's go unlock some doors!
