Campaign Update #15: The Final Boss, A New Event Card, French Instructions
almost 8 years ago
– Mon, Dec 05, 2016 at 11:08:31 PM
You may recall that the campaign unlocked two new bosses with stretch goals... the first was the K.I.C.K. 9000, unveiled in Campaign Update #8. Today we are happy (and a little terrified) to reveal the seventh and final boss:
THE DUNGEON MASTER - FINAL FORM!
Yikes. For those of you looking for a real challenge, this guy should keep you busy!
NAME THAT EVENT CARD RESULTS
Back in Campaign Update #13, we asked for names for an event card. We got lots of great feedback, but we eventually decided to go with:
Many of you suggested very similar options, but the earliest looks to be Alexandros Christodoulides. Thank you to all who responded!
FRENCH INSTRUCTIONS
The French translation of the instructions is complete. You can download the file here, and we'll also be uploading it to the 5-Minute Dungeon page on BoardGameGeek.
WHAT'S COMING UP
We are allowing a week for Kickstarter to charge backers for their pledge amounts, so our current plan is to send out the BackerKit surveys this Friday, December 9.
Campaign Update #14: We Made It!
– Thu, Dec 01, 2016 at 11:34:36 PM
Well, it's been an exciting ride! It seems like so long ago that we hit the GO button and anxiously watched the screen, wondering if our project would be successful. Fortunately, we didn't have to wait long, and the support has been overwhelming all the way!
Thank you so much for all of your support, ideas and contributions! We couldn't have done it without you!
Because the campaign is over, and we won't be able to update the campaign page any more, we've removed the "What We're Working On" graphic. But that doesn't mean we're not still working on those things! In fact, here are a few updates!
Yet More Art
Here are a few more pieces of Door Card art for your enjoyment.
(If you know the Wiggles 3D team personally, you might recognize that we posed as models for the Jacked O'Lantern card.)
Timer App For Windows Phone
Our programmer has been working on porting the Timer App to Windows Phones, and we're pleased to announce that he's got a working build! The next step is to learn about how to deploy it to the Windows Store. We'll keep you posted.
New Voice for Timer App
We're delighted to announce that Becky Shrimpton, best known for her voice work in Five Nights at Freddy's, has agreed to lend her amazing voice to our free timer app! She'll join Jon Bailey and Nick Landis as narrator options to choose from while you play the game.
Translated Instructions
We have completed the translation of the instructions into French and we should have them available Monday. Next in line is Spanish. Those should follow shortly after as time permits!
So What's Next?
Now that the campaign has ended, Kickstarter will begin the process of billing all of our backers for their pledge level amounts. About a week from now, we'll be sending out the BackerKit surveys, which will allow you to confirm your shipping address. If you wish, you'll have an opportunity then to upgrade your pledge level or add additional copies of the game. We may announce other add-on options as we finalize them.
Once again, thank you to everyone who helped to make this project the incredible success that it has become!
Campaign Update #13: 24 Hours Remain, More Prototype Games Available, Name That Event Card
almost 8 years ago
– Wed, Nov 30, 2016 at 11:33:20 PM
Only 24 hours to go, and we're creeping up on $CDN 350,000! With over 7,150 backers supporting our project, 5-Minute Dungeon has now earned a place in the top 1% of all Tabletop games on Kickstarter! We'd love to hit 7,500 backers by campaign close tomorrow. Can you help us make that happen?
3 MORE PROTOTYPE GAMES AVAILABLE
At the high end of our pledge levels, there exists the coveted Prototype Copy Pledge Level. Those who commit at this level are privileged to receive one of our very limited prototype copies, so they'll get a copy of the game before anyone else! Unfortunately, we only had 2 of these available at the start of the campaign, so since week 1 this pledge level has said "Reward no longer available". But we have great news! We've managed to scrounge up THREE MORE PROTOTYPE GAMES, so if you've been weeping bitter tears over your missed opportunity, you'll get another chance today! (Available for U.S. and Canadian backers only.) But this is it... when these three are gone, they're gone forever!
MORE ART! WOO!
Feast your eyes on three more pieces of delicious, delicious art, fresh from Alex's canvas:
NAME THAT EVENT CARD
We've had you vote on a Boss and pick names for 2 different Door Cards. It's time to get you involved with the third dungeon component we added through stretch goals: Event Cards! Unlike Door Cards, which describe people, monsters or obstacles, Event cards describe something happening, such as "Sudden Illness" or "Confusion". Here's one that we've created, showing some sort of mishap in the dungeon:
Do you have a clever title to describe what's happening here? Let us know in the comments!
Campaign Update #12: 48 Hours Left, Finished Art, BackerKit Add-Ons, and Name That Card Results

NEW ART
Our portfolio of card art is really coming together. Here are a few finished pieces you might find familiar:
Back on National Sandwich Day (November 3), we hosted a poll on Facebook to vote between the Heroic Hero Sandwich and The Dreaded Tri-Bread. The winner was The Dreaded Tri-Bread, and here he is in all his yeasty glory!
Then, on November 10, we ran a poll to choose the next boss, between the K.I.C.K. 9000 boot-launching battle tank and a guy in a boot that we called Rocket-Powered Kickstart! K.I.C.K. 9000 won, but we liked the boot guy enough that we decided to include him as well (though since he lost the vote, we've demoted him to mini-boss). Our artist, Alex, even came up with a better name for him! Allow us to present Das Boot:
Finally, just yesterday we announced which piece of art you chose for the Low-Tech Mech, and Alex has already colored it! Here's the final piece:
Stay tuned for more card art as it comes in.
NAME THIS CARD 2 - RESULTS
Well, we asked for your ideas for the tough-looking skeletal doorman, and we saw lots of great submissions! After considering all the options, we eventually settled on
Why didn't we think of that? It's perfect! Kudos to Jeff Garbers and Anthony Pipitone, who appear to have been the earliest backers to suggest it. Well done, and thanks to everyone who suggested a name!
BACKERKIT ADD-ONS
We announced a while ago that we were planning to use BackerKit for the campaign surveys scheduled to happen about a week after the campaign ends. In those surveys, you'll be asked to confirm your pledge and shipping information, but you'll also have the opportunity to add items to your order if you like. We're still hammering out the options, but we'll let you know when we have a final list.
Only two days to go! If you know anybody who hasn't grabbed their copy of 5-Minute Dungeon yet, now's the time to let them know!
Campaign Update #11: Meet the Low-Tech Mech, News on Translated Instructions, Plus MORE NEW ART!
– Mon, Nov 28, 2016 at 10:57:05 PM
Earlier today, 5-Minute Dungeon surpassed $CDN 300,000 in funding! The response has been overwhelming, and we want to take a moment to thank all of you for making this game a reality! We're closing in on the end of the campaign, and we're hard at work getting everything ready to start production as soon as possible after the campaign ends, but we'll also be posting regular updates of our progress, so stay tuned!
Meanwhile, we've closed the poll to choose the art for the Low-Tech Mech or, as backer Martin Desgagnés calls him, "Dude-In-The-Barrel". Version 1 won by a fairly narrow margin: 775 votes to 735. Here's the winning image:
LOW-TECH MECH!
Thanks to all who helped us choose the art for this card!
TRANSLATED INSTRUCTIONS
We've been looking at ways to improve the game experience for some of our international backers by translating our instructions into different languages. We're pleased to announce that we will be able to make the instructions booklet available soon (as a free PDF download) in French, Spanish, and German. So spread the word to anybody you know who might appreciate having the instructions available in those languages.
(The game cards and mats will only be available in English, as will the print-and-play version. Additionally, we will provide a version of the print-and-play with no text for those who want to insert their own translation.)
NEW ART - DOOR CARDS
Thanks to the stretch goals we've unlocked, we're adding 25 cards to the game. Here's some of the new artwork Alex has been working on:
NAME THIS CARD 2 - THE SEQUEL
And here's one that we really love, but we don't have a great name for just yet. We thought about it for a bit, but then we remembered that our backer community is really great at coming up with names! So, just as we did with the Unpleasant Pheasant, we're opening up this image to you, our backers, to submit a name.
Share your name ideas in the comments, and thanks again to all for your incredible support of 5-Minute Dungeon!
